MARKED ONE MAGIC
DISTRACTION
Distraction can be performed by a Marked One character with The Bright Distractions. It uses magical resources to deflect the attention of a Stalker from a place.
The performance is simple, and does not require a ref to be present, although you must go to a ref soon afterwards as detailed below. To perform the ritual you need to spend one minute ceremonially placing pieces of one type of magical resource on the ground around you. This represents you infusing the earth with the resource. You must spend this minute declaring your intentions - announcing which Stalker you are distracting.
Once complete, you should fill out a small form at the ref desk. You will need to include:
1. Which resource you used, and how much (please hand in the physreps)
2. Which Stalker you attempted to Distract
3. Where you did this (in the Mortal Realm, in the Forest-Between-Worlds, or in the Casket of Nightmares).
The ritual will not be considered to have taken effect until you feed all of this back as described.
Using Mirrorfrost in Distraction will affect The King
Using Glowroot in Distraction will affect The Knife
Using Crowngold in Distraction will affect The Snow.
ATTRACTION
Attraction can be performed by a Marked One or Marked One Traitor character with The Bright Distractions or Dark and Desperate Measures. It uses magical resources to attract the attention of a Stalker to a place.
It is performed identically to Distraction, except you must announce your intent to attract, not distract.
Using Crowngold in Attraction will affect The King
Using Heartsteel in Attraction will affect The Knife
Using Mirrofrost in Attraction will affect The Snow.
BETRAYAL
Betrayal can be performed by a Marked One Traitor character with Dark and Desperate Measures. It uses resources and souls to increase the combat power of a character.
Betrayal can target the caster themselves, or any willing and adjacent character.
Performing Betrayal requires one minute of roleplay in which resources and souls are conspicuously offered towards some representation of the relevant Stalker. A literal knife could be used for The Knife, a drawing of a crown for The King, etc. The caster must announce their intentions to offer mortal souls in exchange for power clearly, and name the target out loud.
One piece of resource is used only, and the resource used determines the new power gained and the Stalker being propitiated. The number of souls determines the power involved.
The benefits last 24 hours.
